What is it that makes other people's personal lives so interesting? Twitter has grown abundantly and taken off in many odd directions. From Lance Armstrong Twittering on his way in to surgery, to people on jury duty Twittering the outcome of court cases, Twitter is taking the boundary between public and private lives to a whole new level.88896_lance-armstrong-preps-for-his-clavicle-surgery-captured-with-a-twitpic-photo.jpgThese days, it seems that all information that would previously be considered "private", is now something the whole world can see. Do people not have issues of their own to deal with? Twitter allows the stalkers of the world to legally stalk, or "follow" whoever they desire. When I googled, "Twitter followers," a link for an article titled, "How to Get More Twitter Followers" came up. It was at this point that I realized all people craving their 15 minutes of fame were going to be competing to make the list of people with the most Twitter followers. I would argue that Twitter is completely dumb because who really cares that you're "off to the grocery store," or "wearing your new red shoes"?! The media has begged to differ after the Demi Moore fan scandal. Picture 1.png
Last week, Demi received a startling message from a fan saying, "gbye ... gonna kill myself now." Because Demi posted back, "Hope you are joking," other followers decided to take action and contact the police department. Therefore, a suicide was "prevented" through Twitter. Because people are posting all kinds of information, such as the potential suicide, who knows what else can be discovered, or prevented through this social media network.
There's always going to be a new way for people to communicate. Whether you're a famous actor, athlete, or just a "regular" person, Twitter can bring people together and allow you to share whatever information you desire. Because of Twitters dedicated fans, it's here to stay... at least until they discover something even more invasive!

Celebrity Lives= Public Knowledge

Everyone has experienced tough times. Break-ups, weight gain, weight loss, family problems... Imagine going through these emotional times publicly. I can't imagine having my personal issues plastered to the cover of a magazine and displayed at your local grocery or drugstore. Celebrities deal with their private lives becoming public knowledge daily.

When the public sees celebrities at their worst, it gives them no time to cope with their issues. Everyone forms their opinion about the issue and talks about it until something "bigger" and more revealing comes out.
Think of the public release of photos of Rihanna after being beaten by Chris Brown. Since the media generally hypes up stories to make them worse than they actually are, people were curious to see if the damage was as bad as media had claimed. It was astonishing to see the photo, taken by the police department, posted on the Internet! With many people blogging about their opinion on the issue, I was surprised to find out she has done the thing no one expected her to do... TAKE HIM BACK! I believe there's a chance that there's a different side to the story than the one the public heard, but since we saw Rihanna's nearly unrecognizable face, its hard to agree with her decision. But who am I to judge??

So, will the media ever establish a boundary of what is and isn't appropriate to cover? In my opinion, there's no way it's going to stop because of the BIG BUCK$ these stories bring in. Although it makes tough times even tougher for the celebrities going through these challenges, they sign up for it when they choose to live a life of fame. The more personal the story, the more interested and entertained the public becomes. I admit that I buy these gossip magazines, which supports the invasion of celebrity lives... and it's not going to stop anytime soon!

America's Infatuation with Hollywood

We see celebrities as bigger than life. We love them for their beauty and fame and for their lifestyles that we can only imagine.

We don't know celebrities personally so we don't feel guilty about harmless gossip. It never hurt anyone, right? But the craze for celebrity gossip is arguably making us more and more curious and pushing back the boundaries of public and private lives.

Reading about them is a way we can channel our dreams and wish we could be in their position. BUT, there are definitely some situations where we don't want to be them. Like when Britney shaved her own head! Bald Brit What was she thinking?? I think that having their lives out in the open is making them go insane. I can't imagine reading rumors about myself on the cover of a magazine. (Most of which are FALSE!) No wonder celebs seem to have major challenges!

We dive into celebrities' private lives. We publicly see their problems; weight gain or loss, break-ups, and trips to rehab. We love seeing unflattering pictures plastered on magazine covers and headlines blab about broken marriages and who's having whose baby. Perez But the question is, why?!

These stories seem to make us feel better about ourselves: celeb lives aren't as peachy as they seem, which makes us happy to be our "normal" selves. They also remind us that at the end of the day, A-list stars are human beings, just like US!

Since this form of entertainment brings in the big bucks,  it's here to stay. We'll forever be interested in the lifestyles of the rich and famous. Through them, we can live in a "fantasy world" that takes us away from our ordinary life.
