The demise of HD-DVD did not take long. This leaves Blu-ray as the lone provider for high definition movies in the future. Blu-ray technology is not reaping the benefits yet from the cancellation of HD-DVD players. Sales of Blu-ray players has dropped 40% since the same time last year while the sale of Playstation 3's has risen. Playstation 3 is the gaming console that is equipped with a Blu-ray player inside.
Blu-ray technology is new and still advancing. The newest version that will hit the stores this later this year is being tabbed as Blu-ray 2.0. With these new players, viewers will be able to access content online as well as allow special features to be viewed in a picture-in-picture format. If you haven't bought a Blu-ray player yet it is better to wait a little longer.
If you are set on buying a Blu-ray player make sure that you are sure of what you want. Some of the features that they are adding aren't going to be for everyone. Many of the new additions will not enhance the actual movie viewing experience and won't be important to those people that want to watch only the movie. But for those that want to experience everything that goes into the movie and all the extras, Blu-ray 2.0 might be exactly what they need.

In my opinion though, I feel like buying a Blu-ray player is absolutely worthless. If you are considering buying a Blu-ray player buy a Playstation 3. The Playstation 3 has the ability to update continuously and can play video games, access the internet, and store music. The Playstation 3 has Blu-ray 1.0, 1.1, and 2.0. If Blu-ray really is the future which it seems to be make sure that you do the proper research to make sure that you make a well educated decision.
