Drug Bust at SDSU

At San Diego State University, a drug bust was made at six fraternities. These fraternities have been suspended from campus and three fraternity members were put into jail. All the time you hear about the increasing drug use throughout the greek system. In college, this is a time when more people start experimenting with drugs and some even become addicted. At SDSU, they were drug dealers and they were in their own drug circle. Two kilograms of cocaine, 350 Ecstasy pills, marijuana, psychedelic mushrooms, hashish oil, methamphetamine, prescription drugs, several guns and at least $60,000 in cash were confiscated by authorities. What are your views on the usage of drugs on college campuses? We are taught as little kids that we should say no to drugs, but how come students are still taking drugs? clearly the "Just Say No" campaigns we were taught as growing up are not effective. Perhaps a new campaign and strategy needs to be invented for anti-drug campaigns. Or perhaps it has something to do with parents and their rules for their children?

One student who was arrested planned to receive a degree in criminal justice; another student, a master’s degree in homeland security. Search warrants were sent out to San Diego and La Mesa, including the Theta Chi fraternity and apartments. The Drug Enforcement and Administration (DEA) said a Theta Chi member sent a mass text message that advertised a cocaine sale and the list of reduced prices.

I too read about this yesterday on CNN and I thinking the most shocking aspect of it was that I was honestly not that shocked that the kids got caught. It is no secret that there is drug activity on about every campus; it was astounding however how openly these guys discussed their activities. If they ever assumed that they wouldn't get caught, I would say they were definitely proven wrong and are going to continue to be proven wrong!
