One in three traffic fatalities in Europe are alcohol related. Blow Me is a UK-based company that is trying to change this statistic. Blow Me brings breathalyzers to parties and will comply with dress codes for events. Blow Me employes will conduct an unlimited number of breathalyzers in a professional manner in hopes of helping guests think twice about getting behind the wheel. Blow Me first started in London in 2006, and by 2008 had stopped more than 1,000 people from driving while intoxicated. In the United States someone dies in an alcohol related car crash every thirty-one minutes. Hopefully Blow Me will make its way to the U.S. or a similar company will be launched here.

Despite its name, which I find to be both hysterical and a little vulgar, Blow Me sounds like it's making a difference as it has helped to save more than 1,000 people from getting behind the wheel drunk.
I too hope that a company like this is established in the U.S. Drunk driving is almost like an epidemic in our country, and something must be done about it. My sister new a boy in her high school graduating class who killed someone while driving under the influence. People who drunk drive must feel the repercussions of their actions, even if they don't harm anyone. I'm not sure what the sentence was for this particular guy, but unfortunately some people get off kind of easily with a high-powered attorney and lots of money.
I think it's interesting how progressive the UK is. I've known high schools to do something similar to discourage students from drinking before, during and/or after homecomings and proms and such. But it seems programs like this that are put in place here in the US are criticized hard core and people take major offense to them. It seems to me Blow Me and other programs like it are just trying to make the world (and the streets) a safer place for everyone to be. Kudos to Blow Me.
