In class on Monday I mentioned how a baby was born in India with two faces. The baby's name is Lali, and she has a rare condition known as craniofacial disease. Except for her ears, all of Lali's facial features are duplicated; and she can drink out of both mouths and open and close all four eyes at the same time. Many residents in India believe that Lali is a reincarnated version of the Hindu Goddess Valor known as Durga. Her parents claim Lali does not have breathing difficulties and is leading a normal life. They feel that there is no need for a CT scan at this time. The following link is to the video that was posted on CNN.com

I looked on I think it was CNN.com, and YouTube and found slides and footage of the baby. I will have to admit, it did scare me just a little bit, but yet it also intrigued me. How is this little girl going to live her life? Is she going to live her life like that of a queen or goddess?
I watched the video clip on CNN and I was very curious on the conditions of the infant. She has two mouths, which can be both used for feeding and drinking and two noses that will be terrible in the allergy season. The child looked like someone for a freak show. In the Indian culture, gods and goddess with many faces and body parts isn't a uncommon occurrence. To them it's a sign from god to the western world it is a medical crisis.
