McDonald's= McStarbucks?

We have all recently noticed that McDonald's is now entering into the specialty coffee business. Along with your Big Mac you can now order a vanilla latte or cappuccino. This proves one more way this colossal company is reaching to new markets.

McDonald's prices for a cup of joe are considerably cheaper than it's veteran competitors, which not only makes McDonald's coffee more convenient while grabbing lunch, but also more economical. I think that with this fast food chain's dabble into this new market it can expect to see large interest.

I was interested to see what competition McDonalds is now offering Starbucks. I have tried the latte and the mocha, and as I dovote Starbucks consumer, I'm mildly impressed. I think McDonalds lattes and mochas are a little too sweet, but for the price and time it takes to get coffee (as opposed to Starbucks) at McDonalds, I wasn't disappointed.

Every Monday you can go to McDonalds and receive a free small mocha if you're interested in performing a taste-off.

I agree with Lauren, McDonald's lattes and mochas a a little on the sugary side. They remind me of the mochas that come out of those machines in the Underground or your local gas station. They're not horrible, and they're more affordable than Starbucks or Caribou coffee.

But I remain a Starbucks fan. If I want a little pick-me-up while I'm on the road, I'll probably go to McDonalds. But if I'm looking for a quality cup of coffee, and a nice place to read a book or write a paper, you can find me at 7th and Mass.

I would completely agree that the atmosphere to some people will make all the difference. McDonald's does not quite offer the typical coffee house scene that some people enjoy. I also see over time McDonald's perfecting its drinks to more of what the public wants. Its coffee will probably alter to meet consumer needs.
