Adding Audio
When adding audio to a slideshow you have various options for what kind of audio you want to use. You may have an audio interview that pertains to the images. You may have audio of an expert describing the images. You may just want to describe the images yourself with a simple voice over. All three of these methods involve using the Voice Over tool in Final Cut.
Click on Tools → Voice Over.

If you are using a previously recorded audio clip, you need to use a cable with two mini stereo plugs. (need an image)
Plug one of the mini stereo plugs into your audio device’s headphone jack.
Plug the other mini stereo plug into the microphone jack of the computer where you are working.
If you are going to record the voice over yourself, you will need to use a computer that has a microphone installed on it in the multimedia editing rooms.
To begin recording the voice over click the red, circular record button.
If you are using an audio device simply press play. If you are recording your own voice, go ahead and talk into the microphone to record your voice over.
When you are finished, click the stop button.
Your audio track will automatically appear in the timeline. Make sure you play it back so you can hear if there are any mistakes, or if you need to edit the sound levels (If you do need to edit the audio check out the editing audio tutorial).
Once your audio levels are right where you want them, you will need to align your image clips in accordance with the length of your voice over. For example, if you have 20 seconds of voice over and 10 image clips, each clip should be two seconds long. You probably don’t want to have 30 seconds of image clips for only 20 seconds of voice over.
When you have cleaned up and arranged you audio, Choose Sequence → Render All → Both.
