Weekly News Shifts
Online producers have two news shifts: an afternoon shift and an evening shift. Online producers in the afternoon will have different duties than online producers in the evening.
Afternoon producers’ responsiblities include…
- Assisting J415 multimedia reporting students with their VO/SOT production and editing
- Getting still images from the KUJH reporters and uploading the images for every story being posted to tv.ku.edu
- Adding blank story pages for every story
- Finding at least one meaningful link for every story
- Printing off hard copies of every story and giving those hard copies to the J419 multimedia editing students
- Taking a web tape to the KUJH control room for recording of the newscast
- Making sure all of the soundbites are transcribed correctly for every story
Evening producers’ responsibilities include…
- Editing individual stories from the newscast web tape
- Exporting the individual stories as QuickTime Movies and as iPod(320 x 240)
- Posting text and video portions of every story
- Editing the final scripts to be posted for every story
