Video Podcasts

As an online producer you will be responsible for exporting two versions of the newscast stories. One is for posting to the website and the other is for podcast via iTunes or Google. To export a podcast file in Final Cut use the following instructions.

  1. Once you’ve finished editing the newscast story in Final Cut click File -> Export -> Using QuickTime Conversion

  2. Remember to name the file the same as the slug for the applicable story. (For example, if the slug of the story is Gas leak cleanup, then the podcast file should be named gas-leak-cleanup.m4v)

  3. In the format drop-down menu select iPod.

  4. Make sure you select to save the file to the Desktop the click Save

  5. Exporting should take a few minutes. Once the exporting is complete you need to login to the TV admin system.

  6. If you have already created the story that pertains to the podcast click on Change, and if you haven’t created the story check out the Adding Stories tutorial.

  7. Scroll to and click on the story where you want to add the podcast.

  8. In the Podcast field click on Browse and choose the saved podcast file from the desktop.

  9. Once you’ve choosen the podcast file be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the Adding Stories page and click Save.
