Convert TV Scripts
One of the main concerns of the online producers is repurposing television stories for the Internet. The biggest difference is changing the broadcast style to print style. There will also be errors in the television scripts you’ll have to clean up.
Once you have retrieved all of the hard copies of the newscast stories, you will begin to repurpose the television content for tv.ku.edu. Click on the Text Edit icon to open the program (Do not use Word, it will do crazy formatting stuff that’s not fun to clean up).
Go to File → Save As….
Save the file with the same name as the slug of the story in the TV rundown. If you don’t know what the slug of the story is, those are listed in NewsRoom where you printed the stories.
When you are finished copy editing the stories, you need to find meaningful links that add to the story. (For help with creating meaningful links, check out the Guide to writing meaningful links.)
Throughout the entire story editing process you will want to save your stories. This is a great habit to have, and not having this habit could result in lost stories and extra work. When you are finished editing your story save it one last time and move on to the next story.
