Posting to the op & commentary blog

The Opinion & Commentary class blog is published on the tv.ku.edu web site.

  1. Login to the tv admin CMS. You must get a username and password from your instructor.

  2. Once you have logged in, under the BLOG section, click on ENTRIES, then click the ADD ENTRY link in the upper right-hand corner of the window.

  1. From the TOPIC drop-down meny, choose the appropriate topic for your post.

  2. Enter a title or headline for your post. Note that the slug will fill in automatically as your type your title.

  3. From the STATUS drop-down menu, choose DRAFT. Your professor will let you know when you are approved to post your entry.

  4. From the AUTHOR drop-down menu, choose your username. New blog entry fields screenshot

  5. In the TEASE field, type a two-three sentence intro or tease for your post. This is what will appear on the tv.ku.edu homepage. So be creative and make the reader want to click for more. Blog tease screenshot

  6. In the BODY field, cut and paste or type your blog post. You may use HTML to create links to other web sites or previous blog posts. Learn how to add a link. All the cool kids are doing it. Blog entry body screenshot

  7. Add a tag (or two, or three). Not only do you have the post topic but tags provide you with a way to assign keywords to your post. Try to create tags that your fellow reporters might be able to use, and make them meaninful to your topic. Blog tag screenshot

To add a tag that already exists, select the tag name from the list on the left and click the arrow pointing to the box on the right.

To add a new tag to the list, click on the green plus sign next to the TAG field. Type a tag name (one word, or multiple words with spaces).

To preview your post, click on the VIEW ON SITE link in the upper right-hand corner of the window.

An index of all published blog posts will appear in the Frank blog section of the KUJH-TV News web site.
