Editing Stories
If you are working on a story that will air on that day, you need to choose the specific cast your story will air on.
Choose the cast edit icon to get into the cast edit window.
For KUJH-TV news select the cast time of 17:30:00 KUJH-TV from cast drop down menu.
When you first open the KUJH-TV rundown, you will want to search for the slug pertaining to your story (The producer for your day should have entered your stories into the rundown). If the producer has not entered your story you will need to add a new story. You can do that by clicking the add new story icon.
Begin typing your story and when you finish or come to a stopping point you will want to Post Changes by click on the post changes icon. This is NewsRoom’s way of saving a story. (For scripting instructions check out VO/SOT Scripting and Package Scripting)
You will then be prompted to set your story title. This is just the slug of your story. Every time you edit your story you will click the post changes icon, but you will only be prompted to enter the title the first time.
After setting your story title you will return to the rundown page. If you want to re-edit a story first click to highlight the story you want to edit and then right-click on the story and select Change Story.
When you are back into Change Story you can edit the text of the story, but you can also change the title of the story if you’d like. In the Stories Properties tab you can change the title, change the source of the story, and change the author of the story.
The source of the story is where you came up with the idea for the story. By default NewsRoom labels the author as your login for the computer, but you should change this to your last name.
When you are finished editing the story properties, click the post changes icon again.
