Block Quotes
If you have an extended quote you want to seperate from the rest of your story then you will want to create a block quote. Block quotes should only be used for extended quotes that visually look better when seperated from the text of your story body.
To create a block quote you need to use the <blockquote> tag.
If your block quote has more than one paragraph, you will also need to use <p> tags for paragraphs. In the folowing example, notice how there are opening <p> tags at the beginning and closing </p> tags at the ending of each paragraph.
So this text… <blockquote><p>Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.</p>
<p>Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle-field of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.</p>
<p>But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate -- we can not consecrate -- we can not hallow -- this ground. Notice how the block quote doesn’t actually have quotation marks. The quoted text is just seperated from the rest of the story. The attribution goes at the end of the quote and is seperated by a single dash mark. Much like using fancy video transitions, you don’t want to go overboard with using block quotes. Use discretion with block quotes. There is a time and place for them, just make sure it’s the right time and place.
