Second Life the New Face of the Future

Jessica McMillan
Max Zimmerman
In the past two decades media has moved further away from newspaper and television and switching to the internet and cell phones. Since society seems to have less time to read or sit in front of the TV, internet media will become even more popular in the future.
Although the way we get our information may be changing, news topics will remain the same; sports, celebrities, politics and war will probably still be what the news will cover. With the ever changing technology these news topics will be available via Second Life. People will begin spending their free time in-world on second life where they can combine entertainment time with news time. As well the new cell phones will have Second Life connectability, so people wouldn't have to be at their computer to get the information they need.
As for marketing and PR of the future, businesses will begin to spend more money advertising in Second Life than on other ads such as TV commercials and newspaper ads. Television shows and movies would soon switch from real-world to in-world viewing as well, including posting trailers and advertisements for the shows and movies. This means less people going out and watching movies, shopping, and watching speakers and presidential debates because all of this will be in-world.
While this all seems a bit depressing, this is a possibility for the future of media. All aspects of life will be forever changed and centered in Second Life.
