Media of the Future

The future of news media will clearly be centered around different forms of the internet. With the rapid advancements in technology, platforms such as Podcasts, Youtube, and personal blogs are the increasingly near future of news media.

I also think that news media will soon be bombarded with the same type of advertising that is already beginning to creep its way into entertainment news. Before long, your local news station will be called Fox 4 News presented by AT&T. I think that advertisements will soon be prevalent in place such as cell phones, with messages popping up everywhere you look.

However, the main way that I think news media will change is through the advancement of citizen journalism. In the future, news will be distributed more frequently through citizens who choose to video tape a story or choose to blog about a key issue in society. Gone will be the days when the 10 PM news is the first time you hear about everything that happened that evening. With more technological savvy citizens, stories will be reported more timely and more conveniently for the watching audience. Of course, the dangers in this will be the accuracy and credibility factors involved with relying on citizens to inform the mass audience. Despite that, news media is moving forward into a new and exciting time.
