Media of the Future

Alex Talley
Bethany Black

The kinds of news topics that people pay the most attention to vary over time. Unfortunately, not to insult the intelligence of the American public, the most popular kind of news seems to be entertainment. More and more the audience wants to hear about the latest mishaps in the fabulous life of Ms. Spears, rather than hear about how many of our men and women have died in Iraq. This will only continue because entertainment news is easily accessed and takes the least amount of brain power to comprehend.

News has reached the audience through many different platforms over the years, but some of those platforms are becoming outdated such as newspapers. The internet has become the main resource in gathering information. The internet is incredibly convenient because the audience has the ability to pick and choose what they are interested in and they are not constrained by the specific time television news airs. More specifically, blogs have become the main news resource of the future and will remain that way because of easy accessibility.

Since the internet is a great social networking tool, word of mouth is becoming increasingly important in advertising. In addition to word of mouth, blogs may be forced to earn money in ways such as subscriptions. Because of all these factors, the internet is clearly the front runner in news and media of the future.
