Media of the future looks a lot like the new i-phone. Pod casting will become the new television or laptop. Live stream T.V will be available twenty-four/ seven through pod casting. The trend of interactive mediums will continue to grow with relationships similar to the CNN/ youtube hook up for the 2008 election debates. The availability of information will be even more advanced when it comes to cell phones. There will be no need for any other medium besides a cell phone, it will have everything right there in your hand. Marketing opportunities will increase greatly with the increased availability of consumers. The consumer will not just be reached while on the street or watching T.V. The consumer will be targeted through their hand held devices. Television programs, Internet, radio, music, text, instant message, and phone service will all be penetrable markets for advertising. The classic use of television, as we know it will become the newspaper of today, something old fashioned and infrequently used. Internet will continue to be the main source of information and news.
The media platforms and uses of tomorrow have already started today. As journalism students in a changing world, we will figure out more ways to reach the consumer and audience of our choice. The outcome of what the next ten to twenty years will bring is uncertain, but the availability and integrity of news will be upheld and hopefully reinvented by people sitting in our classroom.
