Media 3.0

In the future of media lies the downfall of intellect:

There is not enough time left for political news due to the increased coverage celebrities are receiving. American Gladiators makes a return and is the number one show on television.

With Apple's Mac's sales soaring, Microsoft chairman, Bill Gates, creates the Wizard in a desperate attempt to save his company. The Wizard is a small, portable device that is a computer, phone and television combined. After four years on the market, the Wizard is owned by 86% of the world's population. Microsoft and MasterCard then join ventures, creating MasterSoft. With this, the Wizard is adapted to include a credit card and an I.D. function, eventually replacing all forms of hard currency and identification cards.

Newspapers no longer exist in print becoming accessible only via the internet. Just two network news stations remain-Fox and CNN-as the rest of them refused to strictly
cover superficial stories. CNN's anchors are Jennifer Love Hewitt and an older, more distinguished Clay Aiken.

Because internet usage is so prevalent, the target audience grows more specified. Advertising is less necessary as Americans are now fascinated with anything shiny or flashing. Expletives become completely acceptable, and are used heavily in commercials to help gain attention.

While this view on the future of media may be bleak; we, as a society, are headed in that direction. In order to reverse this trend, our generation of journalists must not cover solely what is popular, but instead that which is significant in society. Our choices of what we present to the world will influence all of humanity. Hopefully, we'll make the right choices.
