LAWRENCE, Kan - The Centennial disc golf course on sixth and Rockledge is probably your best bet for some frisbee action in Lawrence, but you better bring someone who knows the course with you if you plan on finishing it, because new-comers to the course have been confused by the trek in between hole two and hole three for over a year now.
Anyone who has played the hilly Centennial course for the first time by themselves can tell you what the problem is. Spenser Ryan, Kansas freshmen, stated "Hole three is out of sight, and oddly misplaced from hole two".
At the end of every hole on the course, the concrete block at the bottom of the basket is painted with the number of the next hole and an arrow indicating which direction to head to find it. Every hole, that is, except for hole two.
"The block on hole two is pretty much gone. I remember the first time I went out there I walked around forever before I found hole three", said Ryan.
The Centennial disc golf course is an awesome public park offered to us by the city of Lawrence. It's too bad that people who are not familiar with the course wouldn't even be able to finish a round, and probably have a bad perception of Lawrence's public parks.
The Centennial course could be much easier to navigate with a few minor repairs. I've contacted Mark Hecker, the superintendent of Lawrence Parks and Recreation, and he is aware of the problem and optimistic about fixing it soon, especially with construction work already in progress on the Centennial course. However, with winter approaching this confusing problem will probably be around until next spring. If you wish to contact Mr. Hecker at Lawrence Parks and Recreation yourself his office number is (785)832-3454.

Katy Blair:

This kind of upkeep makes me refuse to be a customer. It isn't hard to replace a cement block. The golf course is there to enjoy, not be frustrated by. They really should consider fixing this and hope their clientele doesn't find somewhere more dependable to go.

Colin Pate:

I agree with Katy. The parks in Lawrence are overall pretty good, and Centennial is arguably the best. Lawrence really needs to keep in mind that park upkeep is important, because our nice parks are one of the many perks of living here.
