Be sure to buckle in your groceries next time you leave Dillons Supermarket on 23rd Street, because it's going to be a bumpy ride!
Dillons Supermarket on 23rd Street has a series of uncomfortable ruts and potholes next to the stop sign of it's left-hand exit.
Not only do these dips and grooves make for a bumpy ride, they are also a hazard to your newly purchased groceries. Items like eggs, bread, potato chips, or even a newly iced birthday cake all run the risk of being damaged due to the uneven exit.
Sheila Lowrie, Dillons spokesperson, said that the company repaired several potholes in the supermarket's parking lot this past September and is aware of the rutted exit.
"We have future plans for sealing and repairing the entire parking lot including the ruts, but have yet to set an exact date." said Lowrie.
Her division office takes calls about Dillon Stores issues at (620)665-5511.
When asked about the ruts and potholes near the Dillons exit, Lauren Calovich, a student at the University of Kansas, said that the exit had caused her some difficulty. The Kansas City junior uses Dillons Supermarket on 23rd Street to do her grocery shopping and had quite the experience with the bumps and dips last semester.
"I had just bought a salad from the salad bar and as I was pulling onto 23rd Street my whole salad fell on the floor," said Calovich. "There was dressing everywhere and my car smelled like vinegar for a week!"

I can't agree more with what you want repaired. That is the Dillon's I do my grocery shopping at and it is definately a nuisance to have to worry about protecting the groceries I just purchased because of a parking lot problem. And good job on the video!!

Argh! I know that exit! It's so annoying, especially when you've got to secure groceries.

This is a great find. Grocery stores and other businesses need to be responsible for not only their stores but their parking lots too. Broken merchandise due to damaged roads could effect their business.

Those pot holes are absolutely awful! I am very impressed, and glad, that you were able to get a hold of someone at Dillons. Now let’s just hope they hurry up and get those pot holes fixed.

I completely agree with you! I've also noticed this "rutted exit", and not only is it a nuisance (as is any pothole...), or a danger to my newly purchased groceries, but it is difficult enough to turn onto 23rd into traffic regardless of interruptions such as this- and falling into the hole and pressing on the breaks with the constant hesitation of when to turn is just more of a hassle than it needs to be! It should be fixed asap!
