No cell phones for 24 hours! The very thought of this made my stomach flip. A day without Facebook and e-mail, simple, but my phone - this would be a challenge.
In order to succeed in "Media Free" for 24 hours, planning ahead would be crucial. I chose to abstain from technology at 6:00 PM on Saturday until 6:00 PM Sunday. I concluded that Saturday was game day; therefore, I knew I would want to take it easy Saturday night. Furthermore, Sunday has traditionally been a day of rest, filled with sleep and homework. With this is mind, I was confident that being "Media Free" was going to be a successful experience.
Before heading off to tailgate, I checked my e-mail, and Facebook, one final time. Then, I hit the power button; I didn't want to be tempted with a "sleeping" computer when I returned to my room. After an exciting game, it was 6:00 PM, and I powered-down my cell phone. Not long after, I was separated from my group. I decided to keep my phone away and use my best judgment as to where they would be headed. Fortunately, I was correct, yet, being separated from a group and not having the media for contact is a scary situation. The rest of the evening went smoothly. While my computer seemed to be calling my name, I watched movies in order to keep myself entertained, something out of the norm for me. Sunday wasn’t difficult. Normally, I wake up and look at weather.com in order to plan my day. However, this Sunday morning, I looked inside the newspaper.
I found alternative ways of surviving without my usual medias. This task was not as difficult as I suspected, nevertheless I was extremely glad when 6:00 Sunday rolled around.

It is scary to be separated from people and not have your cell phone. It is interesting that you turned to another medium for weather information. You also seemed to miss the computer more than your phone.
