I survived, being media free

Being Media free, at least from my cell phone and the internet was a little bit of a
struggling experience but not to much. I decided to start Saturday night at 8 p.m. and then
end on 8 p.m. Sunday. I choose this time because I was back visiting my family and I knew
on Sunday I would be have football to watch.

Not having my cell phone didn't really bother me at all because mainly the only people who
call me on the weekends are my family and my work. So not having to listen to the phone ring
a see that it was my job calling was actually a good thing for this weekend, it gave me a
break from dealing with work related stuff. Not being able to be on the Internet was the
harder part for me because I get a lot of my news off the Internet. I'm a huge sports fan
and am always looking up scores and reading articles about sports on the Internet. So with
not having the Internet if I wanted to now a score of a game I just had to wait and watch
t.v. to see it and not go directly to the web and see the scores. While not having the
Internet was somewhat hard, it defiantly was a lot easier doing it when I did rather than if
I was just back at my apartment by myself. Being with my family, attending church on Sunday
morning, and watching the Chiefs game made staying off the Internet a lot easier. The only
time I really felt like getting on the Internet was after the Chiefs game but, I went
outside and played basketball for a little while to get my mind off it.

I realized with this assignment most people wouldn't be able to go with out things like
computers, cell phones, and etc. I think this mostly because people have adapted to these
conveniences and rely on them more than they think.
