Potholes in private lots are a menace to any car owner's automobile, especially when the pothole is two feet wide making it almost unavoidable. This aforementioned pothole sits right on the driveway between building D and E for Villa 26. This pothole sits approximately in the center of the driveway practically making it possible for only motorcycles able to pass without dropping a tire into it.
Most of the drivers residing in Lawrence would most likely tell you how much of distaste they have for potholes. Potholes are almost more ubiquitous than the KU logo throughout Lawrence. Private parking lots hold the most menacing potholes due to private maintenance lack of funding and/or priority.
This was the case for the large pothole at Villa 26 off of 26th street and Iowa. After talking to Kathy, a Villa 26 employee, she said that after many talks with the City of Lawrence, it was determined that the responsibility fell on Villa 26’s maintenance. Kathy also said that there were some priorities that fell before the pothole fixing. Maintaining the driveway upkeep was the responsibility of Steve, head maintenance coordinator for Villa 26, he can be reached at (785)-842-5227.
With the upcoming snow season approaching, this may become a hazard for drivers who drive throughout private lots. The snow basically becomes a camouflage for the potholes that lie under the frozen ground. Getting private lots to make notice of fixing their roadside problems is the first step to changing the prevalent pothole problem of Lawrence.

I am so tired of driving through the "Student Ghetto" or to a friend's apartment and dropping into a crater the size of the Grand Canyon. This might be a private lot pothole, but getting it fixed still helps out someone from having to drive through that bullcrap!

I'm not a resident of Lawrence, but having friends in Lawrence and a frequent visitor I get a little peeved and nervous driving the lots of Lawrence, especially the area by that new Japanese restaurant and gas station. Way to go Vinnie on exploiting the laziness of private lots!
