The crossroad signs of Harvard and Wakarusa have been confusing a lot of people. Both of these street signs have defected letters. The two top strands of the "H" in Harvard are peeling off while "S" in Wakarusa is completely nonexistent. This wouldn't be much of a problem if these signs didn't dictate such a populated area. With an assisted living home (Pioneer Ridge) that houses more than 120 residents on one side of the street and a large church (Mustard Seed) on the other, these signs clearly affect many people. Giving directions to or from either of these places, or the numerous homes behind these establishments, is often times confusing. The name Harvard looks like it spells "Aarvard" while what should depict Wakarusa clearly states "Wakaru a Dr."
The city of Lawrence was more than cooperative and agreeable at their fault. The first person whom I was directed to quickly apologized for any inconvenience and said that they would be fixed as soon as possible. She was right. I drove by the signs later that day and they were completely new. The woman with whom I spoke with is named Debbie and her line is (785) 832- 3035. She couldn't have been more helpful, obviously.
This positive, and quick, response on the behalf of the city of Lawrence is truely a positive one. To say that the city was fast in it's action would be an understatement. The city was efficient and polite throughout the entire project. This is something that we as students and the true dwellers of this city can be proud of.

It's wonderful to hear that the lettering has been changed. I 've had friends from out of town, not familiar with Lawrence, drive through that area at night, and they explained how difficult it was to read the old signs. Thanks for addressing this issue, and I'm glad to hear it has been resolved.

These signs were not only confusing to people visiting Lawrence, but they were also an eyesore. I did not want my friends to think that the city of Lawrence could not keep up maintenance with simple things like road signs. I'm really glad to see this was fixed.
