24 Hours Was Just Enough For Me

To say joining the media free world (that population seems to be dwindling in our country with all the high tech gadgets out there today) for 24 hours was extremely difficult would be an understatement for me.
It took me an unexpectedly long time to decide when I was going to quit. Early on Sunday evening ( around 4:00) after two failed attempts on Wednesday and Saturday night, I finally made the jump into the assignment. Though just to start going without cell phone, Internet, and I-pod seemed impossible, I faced other challenges with the assignment as well.
I found it very hard to resist the Safari button on my computer while working on assignments in Word for class. I could not believe I was able to refrain from getting on the Internet and Facebook or check e-mail when on my computer since I usually don't think twice when I do that.
The reward of the project for me was to actual complete 24 hours media free successfully. I found that once I got serious about actually completing the assignment I found it fun to be media free but only for a little bit. Luckily my parents planned on visiting before I chose to do this assignment because it was hard for them to not call me.
I think I learned that it is possible even for the most hardcore Internet surfer and text messanger (myself) to go cold turkey on media usage, but the first thing I did after that 24 hours was to turn my phone on and check E-mail and Facebook which shows that 24 hours was just enough for me!
