Second Life Lacks Real World Credibility

While watching the news in second life it actually made me think for a little bit about how second life could be a useful way to interact with other people, but when it comes down to it their just isn’t enough credibility behind the avatars. Because of this limited credibility it is harder to interview people and get a real story out of it. People can alter who they really are and create chaos in a virtual world. In all seriousness someone could say that they are Barack Obama and sit down and have an interview with a group of people and ruin an election.

The one positive aspect of the virtual world is that you can go places with just a click and sit in on some news conferences that would be impossible to sit in on real world, all while sitting at your desk, but when it boils down to it it's just something that you cannot trust.

One of the things that I dislike the most about it is the fact that it is a "virtual" world. As college students we are sent to get educated and prepare ourselves for the real world, not some virtual world where people can get on and change what type of person or animal they have always wanted to be. People should quit worrying about their second life and worry about their own because in real life, their is one life to live.
