The Facebook group called Invisible Children can be found in the groups section under the category beliefs and causes. This group is striving to raise awareness about the atrocities committed against the innocent children by a rebel army in the African country of Uganda. This group uses many Facebook tools to promote the cause that it stands for. The most basic of these tools is the ability to post links under the recent news category. These links provide more information on the crisis and websites where members can donate money to the cause. The most effective tools that the group uses are the photo and video applications. These applications allow group members to not only view heart wrenching videos and photos on the group page but to upload them on their own Facebook pages for others to see. The discussion board is another useful tool for this group. Discussions range from how to support the relief effort by setting up a trip to Uganda, to expressing how hearing about the crisis has affected members of the group. This group is affective in many ways. It makes very good use of many Facebook tools discussed above and the group is rather large at 28,000 plus members; however there is one major Facebook tool that this group does not use and that is the application of posting a logo on individual Facebook pages. If this group were to add the application of posting a logo on individual Facebook pages it would increase the traffic on the group’s page and further their cause by informing more people about Invisible Children.
