CHICAGO, ILLINOIS – R. Kelly confirmed yesterday that the rumors of fall tour plans are true.
The tour is non-profit set to start in late October and the venue will be junior high schools all over the nation.
R. Kelly is due in court on September 17 facing 21 counts of child-pornography. If convicted he could spend up to 15 years in jail. After that fifteen year sentence he will not be allowed to be in the presence of any person under the age of eighteen for five years.
When asked about how this could affect his tour Kelly responded by saying, “The [junior high school] tour will just be postponed. I know my young fans are willing to wait for me, and I am always willing to wait for them.”
In response to why he chose this venue Kelly says, “There is just something that fascinates me about young people. I want to do what I can to empower them and hopefully they can empower me as well.”
As for now the tour is a go. The list of junior high schools on the tour can be found on R. Kelly’s website.
