LAWRENCE, KAN.-- A new semester brings new and improved sizes at campus vending machines. Not only has the price increased from $1.00 to $1.25, but the normal 20 ounce sized soft drinks are now 16 ounces.
The change in size and cost comes as a shock to many, but The University of Kansas Dining Department say the change is for everyone’s good.
Nona Golledge, Director of KU Dining Services, believes the high intake of sugar beverages is unhealthy at the university level, and that less is more when it comes to soda pop.
“Raising prices and decreasing the proportion is a win-win situation for everyone involved,” Golledge said. “Students will be healthier and KU will be wealthier!”
The beverage “crisis” as some students call it, is causing quite the controversy on campus.
“With these high temperatures in the 100 degree range, we need soda now more than ever,” said Eric Scott, Overland Park junior. “KU is putting heat exhausted students in grave danger.”

I love your story. It is so true how they try to manipulate us. Well put!! The over-dramatic junior quote was also funny because it sounds like something a college student would really say.
