Middle Age White Women

The Head Bitch is on the rise and local business and professional women are to blame. Flourish magazine a publication in the Kansas City area targets it's women. In the 66 page issue for May and June there are featured pictures of all sorts of successful middle age white women. What caught my attention was the lack of male and minority representation. So what? a sista can't be a CEO? What is the deal? I find it uncomfortable to look through such a narrow scope. There were 8 pictures of men (one might have been a woman) and 6 pictures of ethnic people (3 of which were children). Flourish reminds me of Oxygen Network, only done Johnson County style.

Tom Belot:

It's unfortunate that some media still look through such a narrow scope. Surprisingly, I'm willing to bet that all it would take is just a bit more investigating and reporting. I was editor of my high school yearbook, and I would continually have to send my reporters back out to do more reporting because they would interview either the same people or the same stereotype. I would hope that editors could target this and call for revision of the coverage of the story. Is that so much to ask?
