Interview with a Poet

I recently had an opportunity to interview poet, teacher, entrepreneur and former KU student, Travis Watkins. I thought this would be a good interview to do because his poetry incorporates key methods, as we discussed in class, that journalists use to find stories ideas, which include: got a problem-find a solution, explore your fears, and look at the ways history repeats itself. His poem at the end of this interview entitled "My Fear is For You," uses these methods to make an excellent point about the direction some of our fellow youth are headed in today. Also to find more of his poetry and to purchase his recently published book, "My Fear is For You," visit his website: www.laymanlyrics.com.
