Citizen Journalism Wants Journalists?

I recently received an email from a Web site called
Coming Soon News . Painfully exhausted by fretting over my slow job search, I was intrigued that they pulled my email out of a database in effort to reach me about a job.
Or, what I thought was a job.
As I checked out the information they sent, it looked as if the people running this Web site were nothing more than editors looking for content. The email began with the sender praising my work with the Kansan, but went on to a more generic from of inviting anyone who's ever been interesting in writing to submit stories, columns or anything containing words to this site. It does sound like a good idea, but at the same time, I found it slightly insulting. Was i mistaken that citizen journalists are not actual journalists? Or is citizen journalism taking so long to catch on that real journalists have to be recruited to pave the way?
