Abandoned Children

I found this story interesting because I have been seeing stories of abandoned childrean all over the place lately. The news, TLC, and hearing about it in psyc classes.

Berlin - A 46-year-old German woman abandoned four young children and left them to fend for themselves after moving in with her boyfriend nearly a year ago, police said on Friday.

The police rescued the children from a squalid apartment in Berlin on Thursday. The eldest child, a 12-year-old boy, had been struggling to take care of his 8-year-old brother and two sisters, aged 9 and 11.

"The four-room apartment was completely covered with spider webs to the point that one had to lean over to avoid them," the police said in a statement.

"In the refrigerator was an indefinable spoiled mass along with living and dead flies," it said, adding that one room was so full of trash it was difficult to open the door.

The children had been living on fast food of "little nutritional value". It was unclear how the children survived and the mother, who the 12-year-old said moved in with her boyfriend last summer, has yet to be found, the police said.

I just wanted to say that I saw the video and I thought it was a really interesting video. I really liked the point that he was making and reinforcing about a lot of problems coming from hip hop. I also would like to note that I thought that the producer of BET made a complete ass of himself by walking away from the question that he was asked.
