What do you guys think should happen to this district attorney Mike Nifong who was in charge of this rape case against the 3 Duke Blue Devils Lacrosse players? There's talk now that he might lose his license to practice law, and I for one, think that it's absolutely fair.
This guy conjured up a false case against these players for his own personal gain to get reelected as the D.A. He singlehandedly ruined the lives and reputations of these Duke Lax players and brought shame to the whole Duke program. These players had to live with being slaughtered in the media as privaliged white kids who were rapists that were everything wrong with Blue Devils athletic program. Turns out, there was no evidence of any rape whatsoever.
I'm not saying that these players should be made out to be perfect (sounds like there were still some racial slurs used and strippers brought in at this party), but no crime was committed, the charges were dropped and all this occured after the media and pretty much the entire country rushed to judgement.
Not only will Nifong now not be reelected, but as I pointed out, there's talk he might lose his law license and may now be sued for all the damage he caused. Do you guys think this is fair? Should anything else happen to him?
Also, what do you think it says about the media coverage in the country when all the talking heads on ESPN and CNN immediately rushed to judgments and have been bashing these players for their alleged "crimes" for months despite the fact that these "journalists" did not wait for any real evidence to mount?

I agree completely. Someone who attempts to ruin the lives of students for his own personal gain is not someone who should have the right and privilege to practice law.

It sounds like this Nifong fellow is a real ass. I think revoking his law license is a good idea but that it does not go far enough; he should have to serve time or recieve some other sort of punitive measure... that's just me but these sort of people really make me batty.

Rush to judgment is a key issue in our society today! Please let me introduce myself; my name is Barry Porter and I am the Director of Marketing, Adult Publishing Group at Simon & Schuster.
I don’t know if you are aware but Pocket Book/Threshold Editions is about to publish It’s Not About the Truth: The Untold Story of the Duke Lacrosse Rape Case and the Lives It Shattered by Don Yaeger, with Mike Pressler. I have attached the cover image and the press release of our upcoming publication. I would love to send you copies of the book when it becomes available; I just finished it and still cannot believe what I have read! There is so much more to this case then has been released, that is covered in this book.
At this time our pub date for It’s Not About the Truth is 6/12. All marketing, online, and publicity efforts will kick off that week. I just thought you would like a “heads up” about our publication. If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me back.
Regards,
Barry
