In class yesterday we formed the typical profile for those who get their news from the radio on music stations. That profile looked somewhat like this:
- > $75,000 household income
- College educated parents/family
- Northwest
- School-driven
- Social conformists
We also talked about the typical profile for those who get their news from cable television. Their profile looked somewhat like this:
- > $75,000 household income
- College educated parents/family
- Midwest & West
- Men
- Self-sheltering
- Socially-driven
Now looking at this, I tried to come up with a profile for those who get their news from newspaper.
- < $75,000 household income
- Not as educated parents/family but can still read
- South
- Women
- School-driven
Please give some insight, as I think it will be interesting to see what you guys have to say about it and see what characteristics you see in a typical profile for people who get their news from newspapers.

Honestly, I do not think this profile is accurate simply because I know a great deal of successful business professionals, educators, and politicians that rely on the newspaper as their primary source of information. Most persons with a household income of less than $75k a year are not going to want to spend their money on a newspaper. Instead they would be more likely to spend the money on a television and get their news from basic cable as well as other television programs. Additionally, it doesn't make sense to say that a less educated person, who can still read, might be also make up the demographics of this group. People who are less educated or can barely read mot likely will not want to embarass themselves by looking at something they cannot understand. Lastly, school driven women from the South might read the newspaper more, but a majority will find that the same news they are interested in can be found on their favorite news or television show.
