Denise Spidle, a 2005 graduate of the KU School of Journalism hits the studio in Naples, Fla.Denise Spidle, a 2005 J-School graduate, will anchor the new 15-minute internet/TV news program "Studio 55" for The Daily News. Her fall 2005 in-depth story, Cheerleading becoming a risky business, where she teamed up with online producer Eric Sorrentino, won a Region 7 Mark of Excellence Award from the Society of Professional Journalists. According to a recent article in Poynter's E-Media Tidbits, Making Local Coverage Count in Naples, Fla. , the first "Studio 55" newscast will run April 3.
We are so proud of Denise. It is always exciting to see our students get out there, kick ass and take names. We look forward to following her career.
